K&D Roofing's workmanship warranty covers defects in K&D Roofing's workmanship.
How long it lasts
2, 10, 25 or 30 years depending on the package you choose
Telling K&D Roofing about a defect
The customer must notify K&D Roofing in writing within 30 days of finding a defect.
If the property is sold
The warranty transfers once. K&D Roofing must receive written notice within 60 days of the sale.
What it does not cover
- Normal wear
- Storms and other acts of God, including hail, wind, ice, and fire
- Falling trees, branches, or other objects
- Mold, rot, or interior water damage that comes from a condition that was already there, or from waiting to report the problem
- Intentional or accidental damage by any person
- Changes, repairs, or alterations that someone other than K&D Roofing makes to K&D Roofing's work
- Failure of the building materials (those are covered by the manufacturer warranty, which is separate)
- Damage from not maintaining the roof or the property, including clogged gutters and debris left in place
- Problems that come from structural, ventilation, or insulation issues that K&D Roofing did not cause
Manufacturer warranty
The manufacturer warranty is separate from K&D Roofing's warranty. Building materials are covered by the original manufacturer's warranty. K&D Roofing is not responsible for defects in materials made by other companies.
Manufacturer-backed warranties
Silver Pledge and Golden Pledge are GAF limited warranties. They are separate from K&D Roofing's workmanship warranty. The sentences below are copied from GAF's residential warranty comparison.
Silver Pledge
The Silver Pledge Limited Warranty provides all of the same coverage available in the System Plus Limited Warranty, but also offers 10 years of misapplication coverage.
Golden Pledge
The Golden Pledge Limited Warranty provides all of the same coverage available in the Silver Pledge Limited Warranty. However, the non-prorated misapplication coverage lasts for 25 or 30 years (depending on the type of shingles you choose to install), with extended lifetime coverage for misapplication on single-family detached residences only.

What GAF says those tiers cover
The Golden Pledge Limited Warranty and Silver Pledge Limited Warranty both offer coverage for misapplication of your GAF Products and flashings at valleys, dormers, chimneys, and plumbing vents ("Covered Flashings").
This coverage is also commonly referred to as "workmanship" coverage, and is only available through GAF Master Elite Roofing Contractors for the Golden Pledge Limited Warranty, and only through GAF Certified Plus or Master Elite Roofing Contractors for the Silver Pledge Limited Warranty.
In the event that GAF determines there is an application error which falls within the scope of the coverage provided for in the Golden Pledge or Silver Pledge Limited Warranty, GAF will arrange to have your roof repaired or, at its sole option, will provide you with replacement GAF Products and reimburse you for the full reasonable cost of labor and other materials to repair your roof, including Covered Flashings.
The word “Lifetime” means as long as you, the original owner(s) [or the second owner(s) if coverage was properly transferred during the Smart Choice Protection Period], own the property where the shingles and/or accessories are installed. The Lifetime warranty is applicable only to shingles and accessories installed on a single-family detached residence owned by individuals. For any other type of owner or building, such as a corporation, governmental entity, religious entity, condominium or homeowner association, school, apartment building, office building, or multi-use structure, the length of the warranty is 40 years.
Contractors enrolled in GAF certification programs are not employees or agents of GAF, and GAF does not control or otherwise supervise these independent businesses.
