We Don't Just TALK About Doing the Right Thing. We Signed Up to Be Held Accountable.

K&D Roofing is a proud member of the Roofing & Solar Reform Alliance (RSRA)—an industry organization that kicks out contractors who don't uphold their pledge. Because good intentions mean nothing without accountability.

What Is the RSRA?

The Roofing Industry Has a Problem. The RSRA Is Part of the Solution.

Let's be honest: roofing has a terrible reputation.

Predatory sales tactics. Shoddy workmanship. Surprise expenses buried in fine print. Poor communication. Missed deadlines. False promises. Misleading advertising. Workers exploited for cheap labor. Homeowners ghosted the moment a check clears.

You've heard the horror stories. Maybe you've lived one.

The Roofing & Solar Reform Alliance (RSRA) was founded by contractors who were sick of being lumped in with the bad actors. We got tired of hearing "all roofers are crooks" when we know that's not true—but we also know why people believe it.

So we built an organization that holds its members accountable.

Not a trade association that exists to protect contractors. Not a certification mill where you pay a fee and get a logo. An actual accountability organization where members who don't uphold the pledge get kicked out.

The 5 Pillars of RSRA Membership

What We're Committed To

1

Buying Experience

What it means:

Honest, transparent pricing with no hidden fees. No high-pressure sales tactics or manipulation. Clear contracts written in plain English. Upfront timeline and scope—no surprises mid-project.

How K&D delivers:

Our estimates spell out everything: materials, labor, timeline, payment schedule, warranties. We answer every question before you sign—no rushing, no pressure. You get 24–48 hours to review and compare. If something changes mid-project, we tell you immediately—not after the fact.

2

Service Experience

What it means:

Communication throughout the project (not just at sale and final invoice). Clean, professional job sites (no trash, nails, or debris left behind). Respect for your property and your time. Answer the phone when you call—even years later.

How K&D delivers:

You get a dedicated project manager with a direct cell number. Daily updates during install (text, call, or in-person—your choice). We tarp, protect landscaping, and clean up every single day. Todd's cell phone is on our website—call him in year 5 if there's a problem.

3

Leadership

What it means:

Owners and leaders set the standard (not just front-line crews). Continuous training and improvement. Ethical business practices from the top down. Long-term thinking (build a reputation, not hit quarterly numbers).

How K&D delivers:

Todd Kennedy is on job sites weekly—he's not an absentee owner. Our crews complete annual safety and quality training (OSHA, GAF, FORTIFIED). We turn down projects we can't do right (even if it costs us money). We've been here since 2017 and plan to be here for 30+ more years.

4

Culture

What it means:

Treat employees and subcontractors fairly (no exploitation). Safe, respectful work environment. Fair wages and benefits (not bottom-dollar labor). Invest in people, not just profit margins.

How K&D delivers:

Our install crews are W-2 employees (not day labor or subcontractors). OSHA-certified for fall protection and job site safety. Competitive pay, health benefits, and paid training. Average crew tenure is 4+ years (low turnover = experienced installers).

5

Stewardship

What it means:

Give back to the communities we serve. Minimize waste and environmental impact. Support industry reform efforts. Leave the roofing industry better than we found it.

How K&D delivers:

We donate labor and materials to Wake County Habitat for Humanity. Sponsor local youth sports teams. Offer discounted roofing for NC veterans and active military. Recycle old shingles and metal whenever possible. Free emergency tarping and storm relief after major hurricanes.

Why K&D Joined the RSRA

"Because I'm Tired of the Industry's Reputation—and I Want to Be Part of the Fix."

I started K&D in 2017 because I saw an opportunity: be honest, do great work, and answer the phone. That's it. That shouldn't be a competitive advantage—but in roofing, it is.

For years, I've competed against contractors who lowball the bid then hit you with change orders mid-project, use the cheapest materials and labor to maximize profit, ghost you the moment they get paid, and promise the world but deliver garbage.

I got sick of it. Sick of being compared to them. Sick of hearing "all roofers are the same."

So when I learned about the RSRA, I signed up immediately.

Because the RSRA isn't just about saying "we're one of the good guys." It's about proving it—and getting held accountable if we screw up.

What the RSRA Membership Means for You

It's Another Layer of Trust. Another Reason to Choose K&D.

When you hire K&D, you're not just getting:

  • A licensed General Contractor (NC License #84720)
  • A GAF Master Elite contractor (top 2% nationwide)
  • A FORTIFIED-certified contractor (one of <50 in NC)
  • 305+ five-star Google reviews earned since 2017

You're also getting:

  • An RSRA member who signed the pledge and can be held accountable if we don't uphold it
  • A contractor who believes the roofing industry needs reform—and is actively working toward it
  • A company that doesn't just talk about integrity—we're part of an organization that enforces it

Translation: We have more to lose if we screw up. And that's exactly the way it should be.

RSRA Accountability — How It Works

This Isn't a Toothless Membership. There Are Consequences.

1. Members sign the Membership Pledge

Every contractor agrees to uphold the 5 pillars. This isn't a suggestion—it's a binding commitment.

2. Members are monitored

RSRA reviews complaints, customer feedback, and business practices. If red flags pop up, they investigate.

3. Violations get addressed

If a member breaks the pledge (predatory sales, shoddy work, ghosting customers), RSRA steps in. They can issue warnings, require corrective action, suspend membership, or permanently expel the contractor.

4. Expelled members lose the badge

If you get kicked out of the RSRA, you lose the right to use the logo, claim membership, and benefit from the trust it represents.

Bottom line: The RSRA has teeth. It's not a pay-to-play logo. If you don't uphold the pledge, you're out.

The Bigger Picture — Industry Reform

One Contractor Can't Fix Roofing. But a Movement Can.

The RSRA isn't just about individual contractors doing the right thing. It's about changing the industry's reputation—and raising the bar for everyone.

Here's what the RSRA is working toward:

  • Better consumer education (so homeowners know what 'quality' actually looks like)
  • Stronger industry standards (beyond bare-minimum code compliance)
  • Ethical sales training (consultative selling, not manipulation)
  • Workforce development (fair wages, safe conditions, career pathways)
  • Public accountability (bad actors exposed and removed from the market)

The goal: Make "roofing contractor" a profession people trust—not a punchline.

K&D is proud to be part of that mission.

K&D's Commitment to You

We're Not Perfect. But We'll Make It Right.

Being an RSRA member doesn't mean we'll never make a mistake. It means when we do, we'll own it and fix it—fast, at our expense, no excuses.

Here's our promise:

  • If we screw up, we'll tell you immediately (not hide it and hope you don't notice)
  • If you're unhappy, we'll make it right—even if it costs us money
  • If we can't solve it ourselves, the RSRA is there as an escalation path
  • If we break our pledge, we deserve to lose your trust—and our membership

That's the difference between a contractor who's accountable and one who isn't.

FAQ — RSRA Membership

What does RSRA stand for?

Roofing & Solar Reform Alliance. It's an industry organization founded by contractors committed to ethical business practices and accountability.

How is RSRA different from other trade associations?

Most trade groups exist to protect contractors—lobbying, legal support, industry advocacy. The RSRA exists to hold contractors accountable to customers. If you don't uphold the pledge, you get kicked out. That's rare in this industry.

What happens if K&D violates the RSRA pledge?

We'd be investigated by the RSRA. Depending on the severity, we could be warned and required to correct the issue, suspended from membership, or permanently expelled and lose the right to claim RSRA affiliation. That's exactly why the membership matters—there are real consequences.

Does RSRA membership guarantee K&D will never make a mistake?

No. Mistakes happen in every business. What RSRA membership guarantees is: We're committed to the 5 pillars, we'll own our mistakes and fix them, and we're held accountable by an external organization (not just ourselves). It's about accountability, not perfection.

Can I verify K&D's RSRA membership?

Yes. Visit rsra.org and search for K&D Roofing or Todd Kennedy. We're listed as active members. You can also see the full Membership Pledge we signed.

How do I file a complaint if K&D doesn't uphold the RSRA pledge?

Call us first: (919) 977-4074. We want to solve it directly. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to the RSRA. Contact info is on their website: rsra.org. We'd rather fix it ourselves—but the RSRA is there if we don't.

Your Roof Won't Fix Itself.

No pressure. No gimmicks. Just honest roofing from a local company that's been here since 2017.
