Carolina Beach is a New Hanover County barrier island between the Atlantic and the Cape Fear River, with Snow's Cut at the north. Tropical storms and nor'easters are the wind, as on the rest of this coast. Salt air works on metal. Summer heat is moderated by the water compared with inland towns.
